The African Health Informatics Research Institute (AfHIRI) is proudly affiliated with the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO) a global network for accessing a broad pool of expertise, technical knowledge, and innovative research from leading research and technology organizations across multiple regions.
Through this platform, AfHIRI contributes to the fostering of international collaboration, facilitating high-level networking, and strengthening research capacity in digital health. AfHIRI will contribute to the WAITRO network through its established research and training ecosystem like the African Digital Health Doctoral Researchers Progress Forum—a monthly platform that supports doctoral students across Africa to present their research, receive expert feedback, strengthen methodologies, and build collaborative networks. This initiative enhances doctoral capacity building and mentorship in digital health across the continent.
AfHIRI provides comprehensive research support services for local and international partners conducting studies in Uganda and East Africa. These include event coordination, IRB support, data collection, transcription and translation, IT services, transport, and project management. Through its affiliation with WAITRO, AfHIRI is well-positioned to extend these services to member organizations while expanding opportunities for collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and capacity strengthening.
