Dr. Lillian Muyama, Ph.D., is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Makerere University and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the university’s Center for Artificial Intelligence. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Makerere University, and a PhD in Computer Science from Université Paris Cité in Paris, France. Drawing on her strong background in machine learning,
Dr. Muyama has collaborated with clinical experts to develop AI tools to support clinical decision-making. She has also demonstrated expertise in developing AI-driven solutions for societal impact, having played a key role in a multidisciplinary project that monitors air quality in Kampala, Uganda, and several other African cities.
Her current research involves investigating bias in large language models, with a particular focus on healthcare applications, especially in low-resource settings.
